Homeschool Hustle

It’s been sooooo long since I’ve posted on here! This is why I stopped keeping a journal. I had year long gaps in some places…

But, here I am now!

I started the kids homeschool year on August 10th (have I even done a blog since then?! No… no I have not…) For those of you who don’t know, I have 2 homeschooled (Kindergarten and 3rd grade ESE) and 2 at public school (1st grade and 3rd grade). I would eventually LOVE to just have all the babies homeschooled! Right now, we are still in disarray from the move and staying with family. I barely have the space to homeschool the 2 that are here! Let’s throw up some prayers for a new home soon!!!!

I have a pretty cute little homeschool setup though. You know I’m posting a pic…

I think, almost 3 weeks in, we have finally gotten into our groove. We have figured out what works best as far as curriculum and workload. I have a pretty good basic idea what each kid needs to work on, and we’ve been able to focus on individual needs more and more.

I have joined a bunch of homeschool groups on facebook. Yeah, I’m one of those people. I’m still searching for a co-op group in our area. I’ve been busy looking into homeschool field trips as well. I plan on doing one field trip per month. I have scheduled September’s field trip to Gatorland! I think I’m more excited than the kids! 🙂 I will be sure to blog about that trip afterwards. Other places I’m looking into are: Legoland (again, that’s mostly for me lol), the Central Florida Zoo, Sea World, the Orlando Science Center, and Crayola Experience. I want them to get as much hands on knowledge as possible!

So seriously, to end this, I just want to give any of you new to homeschool some advice: All the planning in the world can’t prepare you for how homeschooling is actually going to go… HA! The secret word is Spiderman. Keep pushing on, figure out what works for you and your kids, and don’t try to fit into anyone else’s expectations of your schooling style.

Thanks for reading, see you again soon!
